24th World Scout Jamboree

Hope and Joshua from the Moosehunter Explorers have been chosen to represent Deeside District at the 24th World Scout Jamboree.

The Jamboree will be held during July 2019 in West Virginia, USA, at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve and will be an adventure beyond anything you can imagine. It will be jointly hosted by the Boy Scouts of America, Scouts Canada and the Scout Association of Mexico.

The World Scout Jamboree is an educational event that brings together the world’s young people to promote peace and mutual understanding and to develop leadership and life skills. It will feature activity programs, such as the Global Development Village, the World Scout Centre, a special sustainability initiative, and the socialization elements that allow me to make lifelong friends from around the world.

Unlike any other youth event, at the World Scout Jamboree they will be surrounded in diverse global cultures by joining with around 40000 Scouts from over 200 countries for 12 unforgettable days.

However being selected to attend such an event is only the start of a very long journey. Part of the selection criteria is the commitment to raise the £4000 necessary to cover the Jamboree fees, travel, training and equipment.
